Rose of Venus Mandala is rooted in the sacred geometry formed by the orbital path of Venus, a pattern historically associated with harmony, balance, and cyclical time. Created entirely freehand through my meditative piping process, each line and dot is applied in heavy-body acrylic, building a sculptural surface that rises from the canvas in a rhythmic, tactile relief.
Drawing from South Indian kolam traditions and henna-style geometry, the work translates ephemeral, daily practices into a permanent and architectural form. The symmetry appears precise from a distance, while up close, the evidence of the hand remains visible in each measured mark.
Layered color and pattern radiate outward from the center, with subtle shifts in surface and light revealing the depth of the work over time.
